Eva Mae Currey

Eva Mae Williams was born on November 21, 1940, to the late T.S. Williams and Agnes
Frazier in Chadbourn N.C. Eva departed this life on May 8, 2023.
 
Eva accepted Christ at an early age and joined First Baptist Church and shared her youthful
years with her classmates at Westside High School. Eva accepted Christ early and remained
active in the Church throughout her earthly life. After graduation, Eva attended Fayetteville
State University.
 
In the early 80s Eva joined Bethany Baptist Church in Brooklyn, New York under the
leadership of the late Dr. Williams Augustus Jones, Jr., where she taught Sunday School and
was active in church ministries. In 1961, Eva married Frank Frink Jr. and gave birth to
Angela, and twins Gina & Gino. In 1975, Eva remarried to the love of her life, Louis P.
Currey. Later, Eva gave birth to twins Keita and Karim. While caring for her young twins
(Karim & Keita) Eva attended school at night for 3 years working on her Masters. Eva
graduated from Long Island University with a Masters Degree in Education. Eva and Louie
were married for 30 years until his death.
 
In New York, Eva taught English at Junior High School, P.S. 275 -Brownsville District in
Brooklyn. Eva taught for over 30 years and was voted as a favorite teacher among her
students. After 35 years, in Brooklyn, Eva retired and returned to her roots in Chadbourn,
N.C. Eva rejoined First Missionary Baptist Church. Eva was an active member and loved her
pastors and her church family. Eva was active in senior activities at Chadbourn Senior
Center in Chadbourn, N.C.
 
Eva was preceded in death by her loving husband Louis P. Currey, her brother
Ulysses Williams, her sister Gladys Smith, her son Gino Frink, her daughter Keita
Currey, her beloved niece Kena McMillian and beloved nephew Kenneth Smith.
 
Viewing will be held from 12:00 pm-1:00 pm on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at First Missionary Baptist Church, 505 South Wilkes Street, Chadbourn, NC 28431.
 
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at First Missionary Baptist Church, 505 South Wilkes Street, Chadbourn, NC 28431 with Pastor Virgil Reaves, Officiating.  Interment will follow at Belvue Cemetery, 1055 Clarendon-Chadbourn Road, Chadbourn
 
Surviving to cherish her memory is her sister, Shirley Grainger of Chadbourn, NC,
daughters, Angela Frink of Brooklyn, NY., La Gina Gross (Randy) of Alexandria,
VA., Ruth Currey Smith of Brooklyn, NY.; her two sons, Christopher Currey of
Brooklyn, NY., and Karim Currey (Annette) of GA.; Grandchildren: Miracle Gross of
Alexandria, VA., Kamoni Currey of GA., Jordan Currey of Brooklyn, NY.; Nephews
and nieces Treka McMillian, Chandalar McMillian, Theresha Scott (Alex), Retta
Smith; and beloved great-nieces, cousins, and friends.
