Lillie Mae Peppers went home to be with the Lord on July 4, 2025.
She was born on February 15, 1943, in Columbus, North Carolina, to Clifton Flowers and Catherine Peppers. After graduating from high school, Lillie Mae joined the police academy and proudly served as a police officer in New York City. Following her service as one of New York’s Finest, she went on to become a Park Ranger and later a Deputy Superintendent with the NYC Parks Department. She retired in 2005 and returned to her hometown of Chadbourn, North Carolina.
A viewing will be held on Friday, July 11, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at D&A Funeral Service Chapel.
The funeral service will take place on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 1:00 PM, also at D&A Funeral Service Chapel, with Elder Ricky Mason officiating.
Lillie Mae was a devoted mother to ten children:James Duffin (deceased), John Duffin (deceased), Michael Flowers (deceased), Anthony Flowers, William Peppers, Teddy Peppers, Barbara Peppers, LaKeisha Peppers (deceased), Tyesha LaKeisha Peppers, and Lillie Veronica Peppers.
She was also a beloved grandmother to: Donna Duffin, Teddy Burns (deceased), Judge Peppers, Cassim Brown, Ebony Peppers (deceased), Willie Peppers, Johnathan Peppers, Michelle Young, Michael Young, and Diamond Peppers; and a proud great-grandmother to fifteen great-grandchildren.
Lillie Mae leaves behind a host of cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.
Family and friends are welcome to visit the home of Ms. Peppers at 212 Chappin Street. The repast will also be held there following the service on Saturday.
